Mandarin Orientals have spectacular views. Not always, of course, but here in the tearoom on the 33rd floor, it’s looking pretty good.
And aren’t they inserting one into the hundredth floor of London’s Shard? A cup of tea up there would help one make sense of London.
Anyway, I have a teaching job around the corner here and have been passing since September, meaning to stop in when I had some spare time, spare change, and when there wasn’t a phalanx of intimidating security guards blocking the entrance as so often happens. Pretty posh crowd that needs protection. But today there is a pretty normal looking range of denizens–suntanned men finishing lunch with hearty laughter, a group of well shod ladies, and two couples looking like they come here often.
